What "RTO approved" means
An RTO approved GPS tracker is an AIS-140 compliant VLTD. AIS-140 is the national standard for vehicle tracking systems, and the Central Motor Vehicles Rules require public service vehicles to carry one with emergency buttons.
Unlike a normal GPS tracker, an AIS-140 device reports to the state government's monitoring backend as well as to the owner. That is what the RTO checks when you renew fitness or apply for a permit.
If you are not sure whether your vehicle needs one, WhatsApp us your vehicle type and registration and we will tell you.

Frequently asked questions
Is an RTO approved GPS tracker the same as AIS-140?
Yes. When the RTO asks for an approved GPS tracker for fitness or a permit, it means an AIS-140 compliant Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) with emergency buttons.
Will a normal GPS tracker pass RTO fitness?
No. A normal tracker only reports to your own app. The RTO needs an AIS-140 VLTD that also reports to the state government backend.
Which vehicles need an AIS-140 VLTD?
Public service and commercial passenger vehicles such as taxis, cabs, buses, school buses and maxi cabs, and vehicles under several permit categories. The RTO checks for a working VLTD at fitness renewal and for permits. Check with your RTO for your exact vehicle category.
Do you help with activation for RTO fitness?
Yes. We fit the VT One AIS-140 device, collect the vehicle and owner details (KYC) and complete the activation, so your vehicle is ready for the RTO.
